Legal and Easy DVD Downloads
So you're looking for a copy of "Roaring Glory Warbirds: F4U Corsair" from 1988 and Amazon tells you it's discontinued. Or maybe you need to get a copy of "Peter Pan" starring Cathy Rigby from 2000, but the cheapest you can find it on Amazon is nearly $40. What if there were a easy, cheap and legal way to download and burn these movies to DVD (after all, unless your Mac is pretty old, it probably came with a DVD burner, and blank DVDs can be had for well under $1).

Sometimes you just need to be distracted, get rid of frustration. There are a bunch of free and inexpensive apps for your iPhone or iPod touch that are guaranteed to waste your time and leave you less stressed.
BubblePop! lite (Free) — Everyone needs bubble wrap. While this isn't the best bubble wrap app I've seen over the years, the price is right, so you have nothing to lose.

Doodle Golf ($.99) — Putt putt with a twist. Drag your finger from the ball to the hole, avoiding the walls and obstacles. The tricky part is that the obstacles become invisible as soon as you start dragging. Cute game.

Fuzzle FREE (Free) — This is one of my favorites. Line up the dots so that you have five in a row the same color to make them disappear. There is a paid version of this, but the free one keeps me happy.

Moonlight Mahjong Lite (Free) — 3D mahjong that you can tilt, twist and zoom in and out for a better view. Lots of different layouts with this one.

Solebon Solitaire ($1.99) — This is my favorite time waster. There are 40 different solitaire variations in this little app. I'm currently hooked on Yukon.

VooDude ($.99) — Mad at the boss? Someone bugging you? VooDude, your own personal voodoo doll is a great way to get rid of your frustration. Use the accelerometer and touch screen to shake, pin, burn and toss him. Oh, and you can personalize him with a photo of the offending party.

Whac-a-mole: Whacky Xmas (Free) — Back to your arcade days! There is a paid version, but for free, I can put up the Christmas hats on the moles.

Word Warp ($.99) — See how many words you can come up with from 6 letters before time runs out. Highly addictive, and a great way to exercize your brain cells.

I'm a fan of MobileMe and while I do think the service could offer more for what it costs (considering there are so many similar things out there for FREE), I'm happy with the OS level of integration both in the Mac OS and on my iPhone.

However, one of things that makes MobileMe easier to justify is that I NEVER pay full price for it. MobileMe's retail price is $99/year for individuals and $149/year for the family plan. I'm on the family plan and can't remember the last time I actually paid $149 for it.
Have you ever made a New Years resolution and not followed through upon it?
Well today you have a chance to make some resolutions that will pay off in spades if you follow them.

Here are some resolutions you can do for the New Year to keep yourself prepared from data disaster.
1) Resolve to put into whatever electronic calendar that you use (iCal, Outlook, Entourage, iPhone or iPodTouch) a reminder to do a backup at least once a month for 2010.
2) Resolve to take whatever gift cards or cash you may have received during the holiday season and spend it on some sort of reliable backup media. (2 External hard drives or 2 Large capacity USB Flash drives come to mind)
3) Resolve to decide upon a safe location offsite from your Mac or PC to store your backups and start using that location to protect your data.
4) Resolve to clean out any unnecessary data and either archive it or delete/destroy it. Clutter will bring confusion when and if a disaster occurs.
These resolutions will assure a safe and Happy New Year for you and your data.
Now an ABBA FlashBACK…….
