Imagine going to the local Farmers Market or Trade Show…
There’s a lot going on, but the primary focus of every vendor there is to sell their wares.

They cart a lot of merchandise in and out of the venue, sometimes this includes heavy cash registers or bulky credit card equipment. Some of you know that drill.

Now imagine all of those transactions being transacted on the iPad. Then stop imagining and take a look at the app revamped for the iPad, “Square.”

I was so intrigued when I saw this app. My thought process for the iPad is “Oh, the possibilities” it brings. I’ve already seen the iPad used in hospital operating rooms; replacing GPS units in motor vehicles; and now, in the hands of merchants… Oh, the possibilities!

Square allows the ability to set up a storefront for your items and services on your iPad, pay by credit card, swipe a credit card, send receipts to an email address, organize your receipts and more.

Square developers are also rolling out the app for use on the iPhone, iPod Touch, Android and laptops. But the iPad, with it’s larger screen, seems tailor made for this app.

  • I’m very interested in this. I wonder if it will store transactions and send later for those instances when there is no connectivity.

They’re still behind on getting the card readers out, so you’ll have to enter stuff manually. The issue with that is that it’s a little more costly – 3.5% + $0.15 per card.
