Type N Walk

How many times have you heard of people walking into objects while texting. For some it generated a minor scrape, for others not paying attention has been lethal.

Well for those who refuse to give up this very dangerous practice of not paying attention to where they are going, here’s a bit of help.  “Type n Walk” uses the iPhone camera to show you what’s in front of you while you walk and type. Type is displayed on a text layer over the camera layer, so both are visible at the same time. Effectively allowing one to see where they are going.

There is one little issue. You can’t send anything from this app. The text you type has to be copy/pasted into a texting app or email app. So, at that point, you have to be careful where you step. But, otherwise, Type n Walk can be useful.

iLingual

As if communicating while in a foreign country is not hard enough, let’s add an element to it. Allow the iPhone to free you of those hand gestures and do the speaking for you, by using your own mouth. iLingual let’s you take an image of your mouth and use it to speak foreign phrases, visually displayed on your iPhone. This can actually add a air of comedy to your predicament. Let’s just hope that the patron you stop has a sense of humor.
