Time for the younger set again. I like to keep an eye on the iTunes App Store New and Noteworthy section. You never know what will pop up. Last week brought the release of a gem ($2.99) called Mini-Monsters. Now, the name does not refer to tiny ogres or little vampires, but rather the microscopic world of creepy crawlies.
I have to admit that I was a total geek growing up. In my family, it was inevitable. I bought my first microscope when I was probably 10 or 11, and I used it to look at everything from human hair to stagnant wading pool water. When I saw Mini-Monsters, I had to grab it. It has over 500 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images of creepy crawlies from ants to wasps, including scales on butterfly wings and caterpillar feet. If you have youngsters and an iPad, you need to download this app. It’s fascinating.
Check it out.
