Nothing Apple-related this week. Last week Amazon announced a bunch of new Kindle ebook readers. I’m sure that I’m not the only one to pre-order one. With the lower prices, touch screens and finally, a color screen, I’m sure they will be on many holiday gift lists. For those upgrading, the question of what to do with the old one surfaces. Some will pass them along to family members, but some will just let them sit and collect dust. I think I found a better solution. E-Books for Troops is a non-profit group that is collecting gently used 2nd and 3rd generation Kindles, and with contributions of camo covers and lights from M-Edge, redistributing them to our military personnel overseas. The Kindles are donated to the Army units, not individuals and are shared by all. Check this group out, and even if you don’t have a Kindle to donate (and yes, you can use it as a tax deduction), consider a cash donation to help add content to those Kindles.
On a sports note — Go, Tigers!
